Virtual Internship at Olliers – Friday 6th September 2024

We are delighted to announce the launch of Olliers’ new Virtual Internship Program, designed to offer law students an unparalleled opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of criminal defence.  

This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world legal practice, all from the convenience of your own home. 

Why a Virtual Internship? 

The legal profession is evolving, and so are the ways we can gain practical experience.  

At Olliers, we hold an annual summer internship programme over the summer months offering weeklong paid internships at our Manchester office. However, we are simply not able to offer the number of weeks placements we would like to in order to ensure that the week is filled with  

This year we had a record number of applications and so we want to be to offer some form of alternative experience to those unsuccessful applicants. 

What We Offer 

Our Virtual Internship Program on Friday 6th September 2024 is meticulously designed to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.  

Here’s what you can expect on the day: 

  • Interns will work on simulated case files, assisting with drafting documents, and preparing case summaries. This hands-on experience is invaluable for understanding the intricacies of criminal defence. 
  • Participate in a series of interactive workshops and seminars led by legal experts. Topics will include Q and A with our trainee solicitors, a day in the life of a number of our team, advocacy workshops, ethical considerations in criminal defence, forensic analysis of evidence, and more. 
  • Despite being virtual, we ensure that our interns can build meaningful connections with our legal team and other interns. Virtual networking events and collaborative projects will facilitate these interactions. 

Who Should Apply? 

We are seeking motivated and passionate law students who are eager to learn and make a difference in the field of criminal defence.  

Ideally candidates will: 

  • Be an undergraduate student 
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in criminal defence law 
  • Possess excellent research and writing skills.
