Manchester Legal Awards Winners

Written 7th June 2024 by Ruth Peters

We are delighted to announce Olliers has won the Crime Team of the Year Award at the Manchester Legal Awards 2024 and our fantastic Martha Odysseos won ‘Trainee Solicitor of the Year’.

Run by Manchester Law Society, the awards celebrate the city’s brightest legal talent. A panel of highly successful and well respected individuals from the business, legal and academic community across the North West judged the shortlisted finalists.

The winners were announced at a glitzy ceremony at The Midland Hotel yesterday evening (6th June 2024). The event was a fantastic success and we thoroughly enjoyed attending and celebrating.

Crime Team of the Year 2024

Olliers have now won the Crime Team of the Year Award on seven occasions during recent years retaining the trophy from last year.

Matthew Claughton, Managing Director, commented:

“I’m absolutely delighted that Olliers have won Crime Team of the Year once again.  It’s a testament to the amazing team we have here at Olliers and all of their hard work and dedication over the last year. It’s a very exciting time at Olliers and we can’t wait to see what the year ahead brings.”

Martha Odysseos – Trainee of the Year

We are thrilled to congratulate Martha on winning Trainee of the Year. Whilst Martha qualified as a solicitor earlier this year, the qualifying period for the awards was January 2023 to December 2023, during which time she was a trainee solicitor.

Martha joined Olliers in 2021 before commencing her training contract in 2022 and qualifying as a solicitor in February 2024. Martha represents clients at every stage of the criminal investigation process, from the pre-charge investigative stage, providing advice at the police station and, where necessary, through proceedings – up to and including trial.

Ruth Peters, Olliers’ Business development Director commented:

On behalf of everyone at Olliers we want to congratulate Martha for winning this award which is so thoroughly deserved. Martha was an outstanding trainee, has become an excellent solicitor and has an extremely bright and promising career ahead of her. We are all so proud of her success – congratulations Martha.”

Previous Manchester Legal Awards Success

In 2023 Olliers also won Crime Team of the Year at the Awards and in 2022 Olliers won ‘Small Law firm of the Year’. In 2021 the firm won four awards at the Manchester Legal Awards: Crime Team of the Year, Small Firm, Managing Director Matthew Claughton won Partner of the Year and fellow Director Ruth Peters won Solicitor of the Year.
