The role

Olliers is a fast paced, busy practice that has substantially grown in recent years. Due to Olliers continued growth and success, we require an efficient and enthusiastic legal cashier to join our busy accounts team.

The role would be based at our Manchester office with potential to move to hybrid working.

This position allows for professional growth and offers substantial promotion potential.

The candidate will be joining a team of three with direct supervision of the Head of Accounts and two senior cashiers and further support from the Senior Management Team.

Daily Responsibilities

Including but not limited to the following tasks;

  • Use of the firm’s case management and accounts system to deal with all postings to client and office account
  • Communication with clients and fee earners regarding outstanding payments and payments received
  • Posting invoices
  • Dealing with accounts team mailbox queries
  • Processing both client and office disbursements
    Daily bank reconciliation
  • Dealing with card machine payments
  • Credit control
  • Dealing with queries from SMT, fee earners and other staff
  • Posting monies onto ledgers

Other responsibilities

  • Processing payroll
  • To assist the Head of Accounts with month end / year end procedures.
  • Communication with the firm’s external accountant
  • To operate within the firm’s own policies plans and procedures
  • To contribute to improvements and development of procedures.
  • Critically assess the current practices with a view to continuous improvement
  • To undertake other tasks as needed according to the demands of the role.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience legal cashiering essential 3 years +
  • Varied (breadth and depth) experience in financial and accounting teams
  • Working knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365
  • The role requires someone who is both efficient and exceptionally well organised.
  • The ideal candidate is flexible, able to collaborate effectively within a small team and can also work independently, using their own initiative.
